I am a gwindel addict, and proud of it! When I first laid eyes on one of these beauties at the Munich show, in 1991, it was from the esteemed locality of the Puyva Mine, Pechora, Polar Urals, Russia. Three months later, at the Tucson show, Gene Schlepp of Western Minerals, proudly displayed a fabulous Puyva specimen for a mere $ 8500.00...a LOT of money for me. However, I took the plunge and have been a devoted collector ever since. If you were to ask me what my favorite locality is for gwindels, I could not answer you....I simply love all of them for their specific attributes. This specimen is wonderful for the simple reason that it is within the price range of many collectors, is in excellent condition, and has very presentable translucency and far better than average crystal form. Although the torsion is minimal, and it appears to have been removed from the host matrix and is a bit rough across the bottom, it is certainly an example worth owning!
