Multiple well formed crystals of grossular are situated on a colorful matrix of diopside and quartz. The locality of Eden Mills stands as one of the "charms" of American garnet localities, having gained the respect of collectors world-wide. Superb, intense, cognac colored, lustrous crystals, assuming classic garnet crystal forms, are what has made this locality famous and fervently sought after. Few specimens are available today, and those that are, originate soley from collections built years ago. Most collectors I have known have simply refused to part with their specimens. Lawrence Conklin, the former owner, has, over his 50 year career, handled some of the best from Eden Mills. Larry parted with this one 10 years ago, and I considered myself fortunate to have purchased it. Of course, there are better, but in this price range, very few, if any, are available.
